Community Health

Everyone involved in any form of community development knows that good health is a necessary condition for overcoming poverty, and that improved health can contribute to the acceleration of economic growth and poverty alleviation.

The HIV/AIDS pandemic has devastated many poor countries and the most difficult challenge in public health is changing behaviour. Health education and formation of care and compassion groups to support both the affected and the infected is critical. Other public health issues include Malaria, childhood illnesses and Maternal health. We can provide training, information and other supportive activities to mitigate their impact.

Example: A partnership has been created between ministry of health, the church in Chawama and a USAID funded project on the treatment of schistosomiasis among the children. The USAID project bought the drugs and Mr. Kasamda, one of the elders in Chawama central was trained on how to administer the drugs and at the same time give basic health education. We have also provided transport to collect the drugs from a government health facility.
